The Southern Colorado Horseman's Association (SCHA) is heartbroken by the impact the Aspen Acres Fire has had on our community, our members, and the many families who have been affected.
After careful consideration, SCHA has made the difficult decision to postpone our July 26, 2026 horse show & roping. With the Colorado State Fairgrounds currently serving as a safe refuge for evacuated animals, and out of respect for those who are experiencing loss, displacement, and uncertainty, we feel this is the right decision for our organization and our community.
Our thoughts are with everyone affected, and we extend our deepest gratitude to the firefighters, first responders, volunteers, and animal care teams working tirelessly during this emergency.
How You Can Help
If you encounter horses, livestock, or other animals that have been displaced, are loose, or need assistance, please contact the Pueblo County Community Animal Response Team (CART).

CART coordinates animal rescue, transportation, sheltering, and reunification efforts during emergencies. Please do not attempt to capture or transport unfamiliar animals unless it is safe to do so and you have the proper experience.
The Southern Colorado Horseman's Association encourages our members to continue supporting our equestrian community however they can—whether by volunteering, donating supplies, fostering animals, or simply checking in on neighbors in need.
